History

The story of Grupa Meblowa Szynaka is not only a story of success, but, most of all, a story of hard work, passion and courage in taking on new challenges. It all started 60 years ago - in 1957, Jan Szynaka Senior established a handicraft workshop of an area of 150 m2 by his house. He was using a bandsaw from the turn of the 19th and 20th century and a DYI grinder to produce furniture. In 1985, after the death of his father, Jan Szynaka took on all the duties connected to running the workshop. He started working with two apprentices - one of them is still employed at the company.

Four years after taking over the business, Jan Szynaka moved it to a newly-erected 800-metre production hall. The company inherited from his father was then turned into Przedsiębiorstwo Produkcyjno-Usługowo-Handlowe i Eksportowe Szynaka, specialising in the production of furniture from natural birch wood. Three years later another hall was built, twice as big as the old one. In 2001 the Szynaka-Meble brand was established, which is now a leading furniture manufacturer. Grupa Meblowa Szynaka kept expanding and in 2003 acquired Wolsztyńska Fabryka Mebli, which is now a leading manufacturer of kitchen furniture.

Subsequent years brought a lot of success and new milestones for the company. In 2007 a new production facility was built in Nowe Miasto Lubawskie and two new entities were established: MM Szynaka Living in Iława and MM Szynaka Interline in Nowe Miasto Lubawskie. In 2012 the furniture empire grew again, adding the “Szynaka Logistic” Centre in Iława and the company’s own Exposition Centre, where trade fairs and training courses are held. In 2012 Grupa Meblowa Szynaka purchased furniture and fittings from the German “Jahnke GmbH Trittau” factory and introduced a new kitchen furniture brand: “Moelke”.

In 2014 a new production hall was completed in Iława with an innovative line for producing furniture components with the use of a cladding method. A year later the modern Furniture Industry Centre was opened in Lubawa, which brings together the global, European and Polish furniture sector. This is possible most of all thanks to the use of technological solutions which facilitate contact with facilities located miles away.

A year later the company has expanded its activity outside the furniture sector.  Alina and Jan Szynaka bought a historic property in Mortęgi near Lubawa, where they established a professional Conference and Training Centre. The new owners decided to restore the former glory of that place and revive its pre-war history.
